Brad Pitt did not Ask Natalie Portman on a Date

Filed under: Misc, Natalie Portman, News — by admin @ 1:34 pm May 15, 2006

Russell Crowe Did Not Call Sharon Stone An ‘Orangutan’ is a headline I read today. What type of news is that?
Is this the same type of comment like, “When did you stop beating your wife?” This isn’t journalism. Anna Paquin is not a slimy porn star.

When did Brad Pitt stop hitting Jolie? Probably when she laid him out.
Tom Cruise did not call Tatyana Simanava a pathogenic liar. Nope he sure didn’t.
Halle Berry did not call O.J. Simpson for a late night date.
Michelle Rodriguez from Lost, did not pose with Lindsay Lohan in Playboy.
Neither did any of the above call Anna Paquin a two-faces loser.

Head to Head with Natalie Portman

Head to Head with Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman has probably populated more fanboy fantasies than anyone this side of Jessica Alba.

Besides presiding over the recent `Star Wars’ films as Queen Amidala, she plays a bald, beautiful and badass revolutionary in “V For Vendetta,” the latest film from Matrix masterminds Andy and Larry Wachowski.

As the missing link between the universes of George Lucas and the Wachowski Brothers, Portman holds an unique place in geek-movie history.

“Yes, they’re all somehow linked now,” she says. “It’s sort of hard to put a genre label on `V For Vendetta’ but it fits in the action category with `Star Wars’ even though it’s a little bit more provocative, I would say.

“But I will leave it to all the people who love to write essays about this kind of stuff to make `Matrix’ and `V’ connections and `Star Wars’ and `V’ connections. There’s certainly plenty to discuss.” (more…)

Filed under: Misc, Natalie Portman, Movies, News — by admin @ 9:00 am March 20, 2006

V for Vendetta star Natalie Portman says she got so carried away learning a London accent for the movie that she couldn’t stop using it once she was done.

The 24-year-old spent a about a month working with a dialect coach to get her voice just right for the role.

“I stayed in the accent all the time,” she said. “They told me that’s the best way to get the tune and rhythm. But then my mum said, ‘Really, Natalie, enough already. This is crazy’.”

Bald Head one Chance for Portman

Filed under: Misc, Natalie Portman, Movies, News — by admin @ 9:21 pm

Actress Natalie Portman was under an immense pressure to get the all important head-shaving scene right in the movie “V For Vendetta” because there was only one chance to film it… of course.

The scene shows Natalie Portman having her hair shaved off and was filmed in a single take, according to contactmusic.com.

“It was a one-shot deal, and that was the most stressful thing about the experience,” said Oscar-nominated Natalie Portman, 24.

Director James McTeigue said: “The first time I saw her [Natalie Portman] about the role, I had her put her hair behind her head because I wanted to see what she looked like bald.

“That was the only conversation we had about it. She knew the day was coming, I put three cameras on her, made sure the clippers weren’t stuck, and then we shaved her head.

“She loved it!” he claims.

Natalie Portman is having a big hair day

Filed under: Misc, Natalie Portman, Movies, News — by admin @ 9:15 pm

Natalie Portman is having a big hair day. The wavy tresses she shaved to play strong-willed Evey in the political action drama “V for Vendetta” are growing out in cute, sprightly curls that frame her oval face. Portman calls her low-maintenance new ‘do “pretty fun.”

“I have someone who does it up for me on these occasions,” she says with a giggle.

Portman had her locks shaved on screen in a single take. She tried not to lose her head along with her hair. “It was a one-shot deal, and that was the most stressful thing about the experience,” she says, smiling.

“Vendetta” director James McTeigue recalls the pivotal shearing as just another day at work for the unflappable Portman, 24.

Star Wars Natalie Portman

Filed under: Misc, Natalie Portman, Movies, News — by admin @ 10:30 pm March 15, 2006

An actress with a talent beyond her years, Natalie Portman has established herself as one of Hollywood’s most talented and sought after young actresses.
She was born in Jerusalem, Israel, to her artist (housewife) mother and fertility specialist father (per Letterman Interview), Portman caught the acting bug after her parents relocated to New York during her childhood. An agent contacted Portman at age 11 and she quickly earned plum acting roles on stage and in film.

Portman made her Broadway debut run in the title role of The Diary of Anne Frank. Directed by Star Wars Natalie PortmanJames Lapine and adapted by Wendy Kesselman, the production took a fresh look at the play, incorporating new material from The 1995 Definitive Edition of Anne Frank’s diaries.

But she received international acclaim for her feature debut in Luc Besson’s The Professional. Starring opposite Jean Reno and Gary Oldman, Portman plays Mathilde, a young girl who seeks refuge from a hitman after her parents are killed by a corrupt DEA officer. Her performance was hailed by critics and she received a “Best Actress in a Drama” for The Hollywood Reporter-sponsored YoungStar Awards.

Portman continued to impress audiences with her movie-stealing performance in the Miramax film, Beautiful Girls (1996). Directed by the late Ted Demme, the bittersweet comedy also starred Timothy Hutton, Uma Thurman, Rosie O’Donnell, and Matt Dillon.

Other feature credits soon followed for Portman including Michael Mann’s Heat (1995), Woody Allen musical Everyone Says I Love You (1996), and Tim Burton’s black comedy called Mars Attacks! (1996).

Next Portman would become famous worldwide in her role as Padme Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, which she would continue throughout the prequels — Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005).

Other notable film credits include Anywhere But Here (1999), Where the Heart Is (2000), Cold Mountain (2003), Garden State (2004) and Closer (2004) — which earned her an Oscar nomination.

In addition to her acting accolades, Portman graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard University in 2003.
